Morgan's 29th Birthday

Sometimes having a birthday in medical school means not really having a birthday. That was the case this year for Morgan. He was super busy preparing to take the Comp exam thus no fun party. Instead we just had a quiet dinner at home with my mom and the kids and had German Chocolate cake later that night.

The Last Supper

Tonight we talked about The Last Supper that Jesus had with His disciples and how Jesus instituted the Sacrament among them.

"Unleavened bread is not so tasty."

Morgan enjoyed the unleavened bread (matzos) more than the rest of us.

Next we had grape juice as a reminder of the blood that Christ would spill for each of us.

I enjoy doing something each day the week of Easter. As the children get older we will elaborate more on each event but for now we just keep it simple. In all of this it is my prayer that my children will realize how much the Savior loves them and that by being obedient we can show our gratitude for the sacrifice He has made for us.

Decorating Eggs and a Practice Egg Hunt

Since my kids love to make things, decorating Easter eggs was a must do activity. They did a great job at dyeing the eggs. I would have taken pictures of that but I was too occupied with keeping the eggs in the dye and not Miriam's fingers. We had Star Wars decorated eggs this year.

Luke once again is the very meticulous decorator.
Miriam had a much more difficult time with the stickers because they would get stuck on her finger rather than the eggs.

Saturday is the Church's egg hunt and I want the kids to be ready! We had several practice egg hunts the following day.

Luke kept asking what was inside the eggs. He seemed a little disappointed that there wasn't any chocolate inside but rather yucky hard boiled eggs.

I think that they are ready to be star egg finders! Stay tuned to see how they do on Saturday!

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

To continue with our Easter theme this week, for Family Home Evening we discussed the story of Jesus Cleansing the Temple. We used Miriam's castle as the Temple, Emperor Palpatine as a moneychanger, and the Prince was Jesus.

Those evil moneychangers have turned the temple into a den of thieves.
Afterwards, the kids enjoyed eating the chocolate coins that were thrown out of the temple.

I think that any FHE lesson that involves chocolate is a hit. I will have to remember that more often!

Palm Sunday

Today is Palm Sunday and the start of our special Easter week. After teaching Luke and Miriam about Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, they each got to experience what that might have been like.

Thanks Daddy for being the donkey. Riding on Daddy's back was an obvious treat! Miriam thought it was more fun to fan Daddy in the face with the palm branches.
