Miriam the Pukester

Just wanted to give everyone the latest story from the Fife family....

On Sunday we went to Church in our new ward here in Miami. Everything was going well until the last five minutes of Sacrament meeting. The kids were eating goldfish crackers and Miriam got one caught in her throat. She let out a loud belch as she got it free from her throat. Just when we thought that it was OK, she started vomiting everywhere. We were sitting 3 rows from the front, so Morgan made a mad dash out to get some paper towels. I tried to clean her up with what I had in the diaper bag but then she started crying. I grabbed the kids and headed to the bathroom. Morgan was left to clean up the remains while I tried to get her somewhat clean enough for the ride home. What a great first impression, huh?

Tonight after Family Home Evening the kids were eating the candy cane Hershey Kisses for a treat when Miriam once again gagged and lost it. More puke to clean up, yeah for us!

15 minutes ago I put the kids to bed when Miriam started coughing and guess what... Miriam puked again! What a day.

Miriam and I spent 4 hours today at the urgent care center and pharmacy. (Since we just got here last Friday, we haven't gotten a pediatrician yet). She has pink eye and an upper respiratory infection. Her eyes are swollen and have the goopy green goo and she has a nasty cough and runny nose. Miriam just seems to catch everything.

Before we left Dominica, I thought that my kids would be so much healthier once we were living in the States again. Now I see that they will get sick wherever we are but the difference is that I have my own washer and dryer to help clean up the mess. I am so grateful for our new van and GPS that took me where I needed to go today for Miriam and that I didn't need to rely on the clinic at campus as my only option for health care. Sick kids are no fun but it is a ton more manageable in the States.

P.S.
I will be blogging lots more now that we have a reliable Internet connection. I will go back and update everyone from our Christmas vacation so stay tuned!

Why does it seem that your family is always "loosing it"? I"m so sorry you have to deal with the sickos all the time. That's no fun at all! You go Morgan for being such Super Hero and cleaning up all the icky messes! You should be getting extra points for that one! I can't believe how fast this past year has flown by and over New Year's Jeff was saying, can you believe the Fife's were here with us last New Year's! We are glad to hear that you are back in the states and hope everything goes well for you in Florida. I'm looking foward to hearing more about your adventures! Take care!

Oh that is awful. I don't know what I would do with a kid that pukes all the time. I guess you just have to laugh at the sacrament puking though... at least people will remember you :)

Our little ones seem to catch everything also, but Emma doesn't. Our doctor always told us that it was normal to get 12-24 respiratory viruses a year for kids 2 and under... plus they told us that since we moved so far from Texas that there are different "bugs" up here and that we would be more sick than normal in the next 2 YEARS until our immune systems adjust... I hope the doctor is wrong on that one. :)
