Morgan's Graduation Party

On our last Saturday in Georgia, we had a Medical School Graduation party for Morgan. Morgan made a special Ross University pinata for the kids to smash and then ceremoniously burned his white coat. The poor white coat had definitely served its purpose and needed to be laid to rest. There were tears, holes and stains throughout, not to mention the fact that it never fit Morgan well. I can't wait to see him in his new white coat as a real Doctor!

Preschool Fire Station Visit

Miriam's preschool class went to the fire station this week. During class a few days before, we learned about how to escape from your home if it were on fire and then how to stop, drop and roll. The firefighters then gave us a tour of the station and talked more about what to do in a fire.

Harley Davidson Museum

After we made an offer on the house Friday afternoon, we headed to Milwaukee to stay the night. Since our flight home wasn't until late afternoon, we decided to take in the Harley Davidson museum on Saturday. We both really enjoyed seeing how Harley Davidson started building motorcycles.

This is a Model #1 Harley

I am personally a fan of the side cars and loved seeing the various uses for them throughout history.

Since Morgan was still in a hard cast, he was able to zoom around the museum in style with a wheelchair.

At the end of the museum you could sit on various models. I tried to have a hard core Harley face, but failed miserably. Mostly I look mad. I really wasn't, I promise!

Morgan always looks studly.

Me as Evel Knievel

Our Janesville House

We are soon-to-be homeowners for the first time! Morgan and I were able to fly without the kids to Janesville, WI and search for homes April 13-16. Maw Maw was so good to drive down from NC and stay with the kids. She was such a saint. She ended up having a bad cold while she was here and still had to care for them 24/7. We are so grateful for her sacrifice in helping us out.

After seeing 20+ homes, we decided on this one and put down an offer. After a small counter offer, everything was agreeable and we are now in the process of buying the house. We should close on May 31 if everything goes well.

I love this house. It is a 4 bedroom, 3 bath home in a great school district and close to our new ward. We feel really blessed in finding such a great home.

Luke's Fairy Tale Parade

Luke's kindergarten class had a fairy tale parade as they began studying these types of stories. Luke chose to be Robin Hood.

Here is one of his teachers- Dr. Duerr dressed as one of the Three Blind Mice. His other teacher and teacher assistant also dressed as one of the mice. I loved their costumes!

Morgan's Surgery

Morgan was injured playing basketball mid-March. What he thought was a sprained ankle was actually a torn Achilles tendon. He went in for a doctor's appointment on March 30th and was scheduled for surgery the following morning at 7:30.

He spent 10 days with his left leg in an elevated position and in a splint. During this time it was easier for him to get around in a wheelchair. Of course this turned into more of an amusement park ride for the kids than anything else! Morgan was a good sport about having them go for rides in the driveway with him and even a race. Check out the video below:

Morgan was then in a hard cast for a week and on crutches. He is now in a boot and will remain in the boot for several weeks as he goes to physical therapy. One of those crazy things that happens when you least expect it! We are just grateful that he had pretty good insurance at the time and that he was able to get it taken care of quickly before residency starts in mid-June. The doctor feels that he should be walking pretty well by then. Our fingers are crossed!

Where's Eve?

One evening as we were getting Luke and Miriam ready for bed, Eve quietly hid in the curtains in their room. She then jumped out and just laughed and laughed. She was so proud of herself for being silly that she performed it over and over for us. Here is one of the times she was hiding:
